Spaceman

Hey, this is a trailer for a movie I offered to score a long time ago. Finally it's been shot and post-production is underway. It's actually a really neat script and I'm excited to see the final project.

This is a link to the official production page.

first commercial

Heeeey guys.

Thought I'd give you a little update. Still writing music all the time for my super top-secret project. Right now I'm scoring some pre-visualizations and featurettes, and that's going pretty well. They seem to be quite pleased with what I've come up with. Also, the guy who directed the last movie I scored e-mailed me yesterday and asked if he could use my music in a commercial. I took a look at the unpublished link where he had put the music and everything together and I thought it looked pretty good. You can take a look at it HERE.

I'm told it will just be published on youtube and their website to generate more traffic there, but I'm happy about it irregardless.

Another day, another wet pair of trousers.

I'm sure I was going to post this news on my blog anyway, but now that Mom sent the family an e-mail announcing it, it would appear the moment is now...

So, this film I've been working on. It's been tossed around and handled by various people coming from very impressive project experience, like Avatar, Chronicles of Narnia, and of course Lord of the Rings. As far as music is concerned, up until yesterday I didn't expect to be involved much further than trailer spots or featurettes. (behind the scenes type stuff) But I had a conversation with the producer yesterday who told me that Michael Giacchino had been chatting with their director and that they were considering using him. For those of you unfamiliar with his work, he did the music for the series LOST, as well as every Pixar movie, with his latest movie Up winning him an oscar. He's the real deal. So then Zach (the producer) showed the director a sampling of the music I've composed for the film and he was impressed. He asked Zach who composed it and after hearing my name he said "Hm. Never heard of him." Which I found hilarious.

So that was yesterday. Today, he called me while I was at work to tell me that he thought I ought to know that as he had discussed the possibility with the directors and other filmmakers, they have decided to consider me for the actual score of the film, alongside the aforementioned Michael Giacchino, as well as Hans Zimmer. I'll say it again... Hans Zimmer. If you don't know who that is... think of the following movies: Crimson Tide, The Lion King, Prince of Egypt, Gladiator, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean (2 and 3), The Da Vinci Code, Inception, just to name a few.

As of right now, I don't know how it will play out. I find it pointless to state how excited I am with the notion of working with those two people, or even having my name and theirs used in the same discussion. I definitely will keep you posted. I also wish I could tell you how awesome this movie is going to be, regardless of whether or not I help make it.

Until more!

Thanks for all the fish.

I know it's been awhile since I've given you all an update. Mostly that's due to the fact I've actually been busy! I'm working on a film right now that you all illegally know about, and I've been writing like crazy for it. I can't wait until I can actually talk more about it and the extent of my involvement, because I really don't know how involved I am yet. But it's a major production and could really be the bone I need to break into film music. In the meantime, enjoy this song I came up with yesterday.

Bulletproof...

Bulletproof, by Radiohead. I have been meaning to record this for a while now. It's not perfect by any means but I needed to get it out of the back of my head where it's been sitting for a couple months.

Fourth Improvisation/"Love Story" (woops!)

Heeeeey.
This is accidentally mostly an improvised song by Taylor Swift called "Love Story". The only song I know by her and for some reason it was stuck in my head this morning and just came out when I tried to be original. It's kind of a shame that it turned into that because I really liked the beginning... But it's still fun.

Anyways, here it is.

Third Improv.

Third improvisation. Figured out how to hook up the clavinova... kind of. Anyway, hope you enjoy it. It's kind of long, so I won't be offended if you don't make it all the way through.
