My first digital portrait. 10 points to the first person that can guess who it is, plus the joy of making me feel like I actually drew someone somewhat accurately. Devon, Alicia, and mother can't guess. (unless they say something krAAAAzy like Splinter from ninja turtles.)
Done with photoshop CS4.

it's t"eye"me for an update!

Well, I've waited and waited for something interesting to surface so I could write about it, but I guess I'm just going to give an update instead, because nothing is really coming to mind.
For those of you who don't know, I have been on academic probation due to my lousy GPA, which was due to me dropping out of school, which was due to my immense lack of self-motivation.

And it's been great! I've had lots and lots of time to think about what I want to do and lots and lots of time to earn money. So then mother tells me that because I'm not a student, I don't qualify for health insurance anymore, which matters. I hear.

So I'm going back to UVU. They sent me an e-mail that tells me exactly how I can lift my academic probation, and boy, what an ordeal! I have to go to a "student success" class to prove that I'm not mentally handicapped, which lasts for a WHOLE HOUR! And that's it.

So after that I can register for classes again, and I think I'll be taking the following classes for fun:
• Screenplay 101
• Digital Painting
• Music Recording
• Introduction to Film
• Jujitsu (why not?)

And as non-productive as my last semester was, I must say I'm actually excited for this one. So excited that I even painted my first digital drawing (see below) with the help of a very useful youtube video.

Also, about an hour ago, I was heading to the bathroom, because I had to go number two really badly, and saw that the light was on. (it's only a one-person bathroom, with a ladies bathroom directly across.) So I knocked. And after a few seconds this guy in a suit walked out of the ladies restroom and straightened his tie and gave me this creepy smile.

Instructions.

Jaron miiiiiiiight be blind.

Step 1. Copy the following HTML code.
background-image: url(http://img-fan.theonering.net/rolozo/images/howe/gandalf.jpg);
background-attachment:fixed;

Step 2. Go to your blog.
Step 3. Click on the Customize tab, and go to "Layout".
Step 4. Click "Edit HTML".
Step 5. Scroll down until you find the word "body" followed by "Background:(and there will likely be some numbers or symbols here.)"
Step 6. Start Highlighting right after "body" and stop after "Background:(and there will likely be some numbers or symbols here.)"

That changes the format so you're able to upload a picture from the web. Please note, the string of code you just copied and pasted is the picture I'M using. That is, Gandalf. To add your own picture you just open the file on the web. (google images is the quickest way, and make sure you always click on "see full sized-image" at the top of the browser. Then you just copy the URL and replace my picture with that new URL. (everything in between the parentheses, starting with http.

Also note, the picture has to be pretty large to work. Mine is 1422px × 976px. You can check the dimensions by right-clicking on the picture and clicking "properties". If it's smaller than roughly 1000 x 800, it will tile on your blog. (meaning repeat itself to fill the empty spaces, which looks kind of stupid.) Well I think that's it. Good luck.

"A post! A fine post!"

So I finally figured out how to add an image as a background, and Gandalf was the natural candidate to pioneer my blog's new look.

That was my main announcement. Another one is this: my friend found found one of these in the hood of her coworker's car yesterday.

Taking Ava-ntage of something adorable.

Second video blog - In which Keaton plagiarizes Jaron's blog titling format and capitalizes on Ava's last visit and new computer to attract more visitors than his otherwise futile attempt to say something new and exciting would.

Okay.... Just so everyone's clear...
This video was a test to see if I could post video directly onto my blog. Turns out I can.  End of experiment.
Next time I'll actually have news... or something...

Well shucks.

Kryn just "noticed" that I hadn't updated my blog in a couple weeks, and what I had updated was virtually meaningless. I agree. In fact, for the longest time, I couldn't even think of a clever enough name for my blog. Kryn has VonGrinner for obvious reasons, Gregan's name is partly built from little geese, which sounds about right for him, I don't understand Jaron's, which is appropriate, and everyone else seems to have very well chosen blog titles. I don't even know who Phineas Jalyper is or where he came from, but I imagine he looks something like the above picture.

This is also kind of bad timing to update a blog, because blogs usually coincide with exciting things in people's lives - what with Panda polls, prestigious university acceptances, and the like. The most recent thing is probably my finishing my first semester at UVU, and more than likely my last. Everything I have accomplished in the time I have studied at UVU spells "do-over". I have discovered that school requires more than just being enrolled. And I think that discovery has really been worth it all.

I did manage to hang on to my major, which has been piano performance. I performed in the recital... and that's about all. There are certain things about the piano I certainly love, but majoring in it is a little too arduous for me. At the end of all your practicing, what have you gained? A couple more songs that you couldn't play before.

So the plan is a film scoring internship. I've already made friends with the film scoring "department" at UVU. (because there isn't really a department. Just a guy that goes cool places and meets cool people who score film.) Also, the LDS Motion Picture Studio has a few things I've written for a film my roommate made and they really liked it. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed there.

Well. In accordance with the latest fad in blogging, I shall now conclude with a ZANY picture and a link to a special preview.
